Caring for Hair Extensions during Spring Season

Throughout the year, no change is as dramatic as the transition from winter to spring, with plant life flourishing and the temperatures rising to more comfortable levels. Just as nature changes, so should you hair care habits, especially if you have hair extensions. With that in mind, here are a few tips to help you maintain the lustre of your extensions:

Use Conditioner

As the sun becomes more intense as the days go by, make sure that you adequately protect your hair extensions from UV rays. Using leave-on conditioner can provide ample protection from UV rays and help in preventing the extensions from drying out and becoming brittle.

Bring an Umbrella

Rain showers are common during spring. Unfortunately, allowing your extensions to get and stay wet can weaken the bonds. If the weather forecast predicts rain, don’t forget to bring an umbrella with you. You can also use the umbrella to protect your hair extensions from sunlight and UV rays.

Wash Out Your Hair

Pollen, dust, and other debris are more common during the spring. Unfortunately, these can accumulate on your extensions, degrading the shine of your hair, on top of triggering your allergies. As such, carefully wash your extensions.

This should really be the only time you get your extensions wet. As long as you take great care in washing out your hair and patting it dry quickly after, you should be able to preserve the durability of your extensions.
