The Truth about Stretch Marks

What are stretch marks? They are the small, depressed streaks on the skin with an off-color hue. It is often caused by the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth or fast weight changes. They start out pink, reddish brown, purple, or dark brown, depending on your skin color. They may fade over time but will not disappear completely.

It isn’t true that stretch marks occur only in women. They also develop in men, too. Aside from pregnancy, they can also appear because of weight gain or loss and during puberty. It’s a lie that skinny people cannot get stretch marks. Pre-teens and teenagers, for example, can get them due to hormonal changes.

Stretch marks can make men and women feel less confident about their skin and body. Their choice of clothes will be affected as well. It will often disappoint them to not be able to wear anything they want because they are trying to hide the imperfection. Some may experience anxiety, thinking that they are less attractive and that it will prevent them from finding a partner in the future.

Although there isn’t much you can do to prevent stretch marks from occurring on your skin, numerous remedies and treatments are being offered by beauty experts. Detail Woman, a day spa in Sydney, provides medical grade procedures to remove tattoos and skin tightening on the abdomen and knees as well as removing stretch marks.
